The Cardinal Ritter football did just that in their week one showing against Heritage Christian 59 – 7. The guys opened up the game converting a 4th and short on their own end to spark the fuel. Logan Beaman finished off the opening drive with a 1 yard touchdown score. Logan finished the night with 145 yards from scrimmage on 12 carries. Andre Guy and Tommy Waites both added scores on the ground as well. The running game complimented the passing efforts of Jake Purichia’s QB, Jake Hagan WR and Kyree Hollis WR. The trio connected for several key plays that helped open things up in the first half. The offensive line did an outstanding job picking up assignments and blitzes throughout the evening. Reggie Gayden helped the fans enjoy the game by executing a couple key blocks early from his offensive line position. The Cardinal Ritter defensive stood strong allowing one touchdown and only 41 yards total in the first half. The pressure on the Heritage QB was key. Daniel Fesenmeier led the charge with 2 sacks, Josh Diagostino 1 sack, Tommy Waites 1 sack and Dylan Faulkenberg led the team tackles with Allen Dininger right behind him. Jake Purichia, Kyree Hollis, Grant Shrack and Eli Johnson each had an interception on the night. A good win to start the season with things to continue to work on as game two against Lutheran already start to creep into the minds of the coaching staff.
