The Cardinal Ritter Athletic Department would like to welcome Dave Scott as the new head varsity baseball coach. Coach Scott was hired last month by a committee and comes to our program with high recommendation from other coaches and Athletic Directors in the Indianapolis area.
Coach Scott went to Marian University to specialize in becoming an Athletic Director and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from Marian University. While attending Marian he played baseball for two years after playing the previous two years at the College of Marin in Kentfield, California. Dave won many individual achievements, including All-American Honorable Mention Honors while helping Marian win a conference championship in 2004. After college coach Scott continued his baseball career with the Richmond Roosters, which is a minor league club of the Atlanta Braves. He is currently the High School Assistant Athletic Director and Special Education Instructor at George Washington Community High School, where he was able to accomplish many great things for the baseball program.
Coach Scott has stated that he is looking to contribute to a school where he can put a focus on getting student-athletes ready for the next level. Athletics were the main reason he continued his college education and he believes his experiences and knowledge would greatly help current baseball players to self-actualize their goal of playing at the college and possibly professional level.
Coach Scott will begin winter workouts in the next few weeks and looks forward to beginning a new tradition for the Raiders. The varsity baseball team is coming off back to back winning seasons and captured the sectional championship last season. The program returns twelve players that started at some point of the season last year and includes seven seniors.
