|The Roncalli Rebels came out on fire from behind the arc, and never let up to defeat the Cardinal Ritter Raiders 80-34.The Raiders tried to slow the game down and limit the number of possessions in the first quarter, but the Rebels’ Max Clifford and Jimmy King could not miss, scoring a game high 13 points a piece. Roncalli built a 19-2 first quarter lead and forced the Raiders to change the gameplan. Roncalli never looked back and the Raiders could not find an answer. The Raiders were led by Zach Hoereth’s 8 points.In the earlier matchup, Cardinal Ritter’s Junior Varsity battled with the Roncalli Rebels and came out on top, by a score of 55-52. The game went back and forth all night, but Zach Morris hit the go ahead three ball to build a 53-50 lead in the closing seconds. After Roncalli pulled it back to 52, Josh Majors stole the Rebels’ inbound pass, leading to two Morris free throws to close the books. Max Alford stepped up for the Raiders, dishing out 8 assists, while Morris led the team in scoring with 14 and Alex Downard close behind with 13.
The Raiders look to right the ship against George Washington Community High School tomorrow night at 6:00pm. As a note, there is no Junior Varsity game, just the Varsity game starting at that time.
