Matter 042713102 (10)

The varsity baseball team will begin their 2014 season this week. The varsity team is coming off of a 13 win season with key wins over Tri-West, Lutheran, Scecina, Heritage Christian, Covenant Christian, and Ben Davis. The varsity won its first sectional championship since 2007 by beating Scecina, led by a strong one-hit performance by pitcher Jake Purichia. The varsity team returns 10 players who started at one point in last years season led by All ICC and All City Tournament performer Jake Purichia (Pitcher/Short-Stop), all ICC outfielder Logan Beaman (1st Base/Pitcher), 1st Team All City Jake Hagan (Outfield), Danny Kivett (1st Base/Pitcher), Michael Bogdon (Outfield), and Dillon Faulkenberg (Catcher/Pitcher). Juniors Tommy Waites, Isaac Wynne, Anthony Ryback, and Kyle Matter also return from a strong 2013 campaign.

The junior varsity program is coming off a 10 win season in which they reached the championship game of the Parochial JV Tournament before losing a close game to a very strong Roncalli team. With the increase in the number of players in the program this season we will be fielding two different JV teams. They are considered JV Silver and JV Red. Please note that each team has a different schedule this spring.

Be sure to follow all the action here on gocardinalritter.org.
