Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Softball Hopes Ride High for 2014

The Lady Raiders softball team looks toward the 2014 season with high hopes after securing a sectional championship and being one small play away from a semi-state last spring. Seniors Marleah Fossett and Samantha Heim give the program the reason to believe that a repeat of 2013 is well within its grasp. Marleah comes off of a record setting season where she batted .620 at the plate with 4 homeruns, 2 triples, and 7 doubles. Fellow senior Samantha Heim batted .514 with 38 hits and 5 doubles. Junior Macie Price will continue to handle the catching responsibilities after recording 28 hits for a .354 average. Sophomore Taylor Merrill brings a .431 average from last season and recorded 19 RBI’s.

The Raiders are currently 0-1 on the season after a loss to Roncalli. Marleah and Samantha have each already put the ball over the fence this season. The team has been working hard in the pre-season and look to mesh a group of talented young players with the returning experience in hopes of a second straight sectional championship.
