The Cardinal Ritter baseball team brought their early record to .500 with two wins at Tri-West High School this Saturday. They beat Tri-West 17-2 the first game and 19-6 the second. The field was a launching pad and the Raiders began to hit the ball well for the first time this season, hitting missiles all over and out of the park. The hitting barrage was led by Jake Purichia who had 5 hits on the day including 2 home runs. Tommy Waites started the scoring in the first game with a homerun to left field. The Raiders went into the 7th inning of the first game leading 5-2 and ended up putting up 12 runs that inning, with Logan Beaman adding a grand slam to the total. Great pitching from Kyle Matter helped keep the Bruins in check in game one. The team was on a high note at the end of the game and never looked back as they continued the hitting throughout the second game. Danny Kivett started game 2 and continued where Matter left off. Anthony Ryback pitched in both games in relief and was very effective.
The Cardinal Ritter Raiders play next at Cathedral High School on Tuesday, 4/14/2014 at 5:00.
