The Kiwanis of Central Indiana sponsors an annual All City / All County Luncheon. The luncheon also honored Key Club members, band members, and cheerleaders. This year Devon McDonald, former Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colt, was the guest speaker. He took the time to remind the student athletes to always ask themselves the question, “Have you done more today than you did yesterday? If you have not then what have you really accomplished?”
The students who were recognized as All City from Cardinal Ritter were Jeffrey Cmehil (All City Athlete), Tommy Waites (All City RB), and Josh Majors (All City WR). Christian Vela was acknowledged as the G.R.E.A.T. player nominee from Cardinal Ritter. Thus he displayed a great amount sportsmanship and effort through adversity while improving on and off the field. Collin Sweeney represented Cardinal Ritter as the scholar athlete. He recently scored a perfect 800 on the English portion of SAT test. Collin also scored a perfect 36 on the science portion of the ACT with a composite score of 35. He did not miss a practice this season while taking care of his 4.59 G.P.A. He was a perfect example of proving that our students can excel in the classroom and on the athletic field. The cheerleaders were represented by the fall captains of Sarah Law and Molly Steckler. We would like to thank them for their efforts this past season as well. Anya Andrews perform this past season as the CRHS drum major and was recognized for her efforts of leading the CRHS band. Mrs. Bell and Kara Carson represented the Key Club, a branch of the many service learner groups at Cardinal Ritter High School. Congratulations to all of the students and may their continued efforts help pay it forward for others.
