Multiple Teams · Baseball 2016 Season Summary

The Varsity Team ended the season with an 8-4 loss to Knightstown in the Regional Championship last Saturday after defeating 1A State champion Rockville in a thrilling 1-0 victory.  Blake Malatestinic was superb in game 1 on the mound giving up one hit and striking out 8 while throwing a complete game shutout.  This made 4 wins in the State Tournament for Malatestinic.


The Raiders scored by manufacturing the only run of the game.  Dillon Olejnik walked and Kyle Price came in as the runner.  The Raiders executed a bunt and run with Luke Shearer laying down a perfect bunt getting Price moved from 1st to 3rd.  Zack Wilbur then came up with the RBI ground ball up the middle for the games only run.


The Raiders finished with 16 wins on the season while winning their 4th straight IHSAA Sectional, and finishing undefeated for the 3rd straight year of Indiana Crossroads Conference play.  They had 6 players named All-ICC, 2 first team All-City and 3 second team All-City selections.  The Raiders will miss all five seniors (Griffen Miller, Quentin Yockey, Nick Leverenz, Johnny Siener and Zack Wilbur) as they continue on into college.
