The Cardinal Ritter girls soccer team took the field Thursday evening in a showdown against the Cadets of Cascade. The Lady Raiders came out firing with several early chances, but the Cadets would get the first goal of the evening. After that, it was all Raiders’ soccer, with many scoring opportunities, and several players getting in on the action.
Emma Eifert struck first for the Raiders, sending a beautiful free kick into the corner of the net to tie the game. Azul Aceves and Abby Downard added 2 goals to make the score 3-1 going into halftime. The second half found the Raiders dominating possession and shoving three more goals home. Abby Downard found the net twice to complete her hat trick of the evening, and Aceves added one more, making the final score 6-1. Assists of the night came from Leda Turpen, Amara Allen, Phoebe Schembre, and Chelbi Hill.
The Lady Raiders put together a great overall team win, and are looking to carry this momentum forward for the first home game of the year at 7:00 pm Saturday, as they take on Heritage Christian.
