Senior Anthony Dumes’ 18 points propelled The Cardinal Ritter Raiders to a 64-62 victory over the Heritage Christian Eagles last Friday. The Raiders clinched their lead late in the fourth quarter on a two-pointer from Tharran Cook.
Cardinal Ritter fell behind early, trailing 34-28 at the half, but avenged their first half with solid second half play. The Raiders finished strong, adding 20 points in the final quarter to build their lead up to 7 late in the game. Heritage Christian however fought back to bring the game within one possession, but The Raiders were able to withstand The Eagles comeback attempt.
Dumes was aggressive all night which led to him getting to the free throw line ten times, and connecting on 80% (8-10) of his trips. Dumes also dished out 4 assist on the night. Cardinal Ritter had two other players finish in double figure scoring in Junior Shelby Turner, and Sophomore Nate Soltis. Soltis poured in 17 points, and Junior Shelby Turner added 11 points to fuel The Raiders offense. Soltis (6 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 blocks) and Turner (5 rebounds, 4 steals) were also big contributors defensively.
