The Cardinal Ritter Raiders Boys Basketball team was victorious against Indiana Crossroads Conference foe, Scecina Crusaders by the final of 64-44 on Saturday. The Raiders were able to improve their ICC record to 2-0 with the help of Anthony Dumes’ 16 points. The Raiders looked fantastic on the floor and dominated the Crusaders on every aspect of the game.
At the end of the first half, Cardinal Ritter commanded a 30-15 lead on the strength of a 17-4 run in the 2nd quarter. The Raiders started the 2nd half the way they ended the first going on a 19-4 run to start the 3rd period to put the game out of reach. Dumes paved the way for Ritter finishing nearly every basket around the rim, and several key defensive possessions.
Brad Bacon sank three three-pointers and scored nine points total. Daion Daniels tapped out at double digits, scoring 10 points. Also chipping in for the Raiders were Ange Gnamkey (8 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal), Nate Soltis (7 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal), Shelby Turner (6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal), Miles Tracy (6 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block), and Tharran Cook (2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block).
The Raiders cleaned up the glass, finishing the game with 48 rebounds (18 offensive / 30 defensive), while adding two blocks and eight steals.
The JV team was able to shake off a slow start to defeat the Crusaders 44-37. Ashley Metangmo made several key plays down the stretch to secure the victory for the Raiders.
