Cardinal Ritter football player Dan McDonald made his college choice on Monday by signing to play football at the University of Indianapolis next year. Dan will follow former Raiders Andre Guy and Jake Purichia and suit up for the Greyhounds next year. McDonald said, “I am excited to be able to have the chance of blocking for Jake next year.”
McDonald is a great success story for Cardinal Ritter. After seeing minimal time early in his high school career, McDonald blossomed this year as one of the key members that helped lead the offensive line during the IHSAA State Championship run.
As a freshman, McDonald was a smaller player on the line. Over the course of the next two years, McDonald had moments when he struggled athletically with growing into his body that sprouted into a massive 6’4″ – 260 pound frame. The summer before his senior year, Dan “The Man” worked extra hard on his footwork, agility and strength which transferred into a starting role and made him a leader within the team and an anchor for the offensive line.
McDonald and Purichia played together in football and baseball in the 2013-14 school year. They formed a bond during the baseball season as Purichia helped McDonald learn the ropes of what it takes to become an elite player on and off the field. Dan is looking forward to working with Jake again at the next level.
Great job Dan!!!
