The Cardinal Ritter Baseball team beat Indiana Crossroads Conference foe, Scecina Memorial on Monday night with a score of 8-1. Brian “Nails” Bacon earned the win throwing a no-hitter into the 7th inning. Bacon has given up a total of 4 hits in his last 4 outings with a limited pitch count, all while driving his season record to 6-1.
Bacon was aided by some outstanding defensive plays throughout with Jake “The Snake” Kluemper slithering his way around center field snatching up everything around him. Luke “The Laser” Shearer also showed his defensive prowess diving for a line drive in the left-center gap and coming up with the out. Ben “The Jet” Egenolf was solid at third base making multiple plays and Alex “The Sticky Bandit” Vela was his typical gold glove self at short.
The offense was sparked again as the team implemented a strategy of getting deep into a count and hitting their best pitch which stretched the Scecina starters pitch count to 103 by the middle of the 4th inning. Dillon “Rube” Olejnik led the offense going 3-3 hitting balls the other way and having his best approach at the plate to date. Kluemper also had 2 hits on the day.
