It was the final regular match of the season for the Cardinal Ritter boys golf team, so naturally the weather was cool and rainy. But, as they have done all season long, the Raiders stepped up to the challenge and had the their best round of the season with a 153 to take the win over Beech Grove. Leading the scoring for the Raiders, and medalist for the third time this season was Kevin Tillery with an even par 36. Following close behind were seniors “Big” Ben Szeszycki with a 38, Aaron “Noonan” Lynch with a 39, and “Downtown” Austin Brown with a 40.
Following the match, we had our Senior Night celebration for three amazing young men: Austin Brown, Aaron Lynch, and Ben Szeszycki. They have been great team leaders, both on and off the course. They set the bar pretty high for demonstrating how Raiders, and young men, should act on the golf course.
But our season is not yet over. Next Friday, June 2nd we play in the Sectional round of the state tournament at South Grove Golf Course, starting at 9:00 am. The goal this season is to not just get out of Sectionals, but to make it all the way to the State Finals round. To get there we have to be on top of our games, keep cool heads, and play through any and all challenges that present themselves on the course. Come out on Friday and do your part to help cheer us on to that goal!
