The Lady Raiders Soccer Team won 2-0 in a conference showdown against the Tigers from Triton Central on Monday. Team chemistry was key, as several opportunities to goal were created early from great distributions courtesy of Emma Eifert and Emma Litzelman. It would be Litzelman who got on board first, finding the corner pocket of the net in the first 10 minutes of the game. The Raiders’ defense buckled down and refused to allow anything, and the game went into halftime 1-0.
Chelbi Hill came out firing in the second half, making runs and taking on defenders all night long. She finally got her breakthrough, taking a run through several defenders in the box, pushing through, and hammering home a goal. The momentum continued, as the Raiders found multiple opportunities, but couldn’t find the net again. Azul Aceves would have a close call, though, firing a hard shot that drilled the post in the final 2 minutes of the game.
The back line put together another strong defensive stand, shutting out the Tigers. Another conference matchup is next on the schedule, as the Lutheran Saints come to Cardinal Ritter Wednesday at 6 PM.
