The Cardinal Ritter Volleyball Team traveled to Speedway on Monday for a Pink Out Night to raise awareness for breast cancer research. In a display of sportsmanship and unity, both teams wore pink shirts for pregame as did the crowd while raising money to donate for research.
The Lady Raiders swept the Spark Plugs in 3 straight sets, 25-18, 25-13, 25-17.
Offensively the Raiders were led by “Spiking” Sarah Middaugh with 12 kills while Grace Armbruster and Evie “Taps” Diagostino each added 8 and 7 kills. Defensively Jenna “Pure Athlete” Purichia led the defense with 25 digs while “Going Back To” Callie Waites had 15 digs. Waites also earned 19 assists while MariClaire Warnock had 11 assists.
The victory was short lived as the Lady Raiders lost to the undefeated Lady Warriors from Covenant Christian Tuesday night. Cardinal Ritter fought hard in the first set battling back and forth with the Warriors, but eventually lost 23-25. The Raiders then drop sets two and three 17-25.
Waites ran the offense with 18 assists. Middaugh led the Raiders offensively with 11 kills while Diagostino and Armbruster each added 4 kills. Defensively Purichia led the way with 20 digs.
Lady Raiders JV Silver team went up against the Covenant Christian Warriors in 2 sets. Lauren Beaman played aggressively with 9 digs and 7 kills. Audrey Odier had 9 assists with 2 kills overall. Stephanie Molina helped finish out a well played game for the team with three aces.
The JV Silver team followed that up and upped their record to 11-7 with a win over Plainfield Wednesday night. Riley Heim led the team with 15 digs and 12 kills. Audrey Odier had 15 assists. Maggie Cmehil had 7 digs.
