Multiple Teams · Volleyball Takes Huge Win On Senior Night

The Cardinal Ritter Varsity Volleyball team defeated Park Tudor Thursday night in 4 sets. Not only was this a big conference win for the Raiders but it also happened to be senior night. The Raiders honored all nine of their seniors before the varsity match.

The first set was very tight but the Raiders manage to win 26-24. The Raiders were battling the Panthers in the second set yet found themselves down late in the Game. Being down 17-20 the Raiders finally started their come back led by seniors Brooke “Ain’t No Bologna” Belloni and Evie “Taps” Diagostino from the service line winning the set 26-24.

The Panthers came out strong in the third set jumping out to an early 13-1 lead over the Raiders. The Raiders were unable to come back in set three and lost 14-25.

Bouncing back the Raiders came out swinging in set 4 earning an early lead. The senior Raiders carried the team all the way to point 24, at which point they were all subbed out individually to a well-deserved standing ovation from the energetic Cardinal Ritter crowd. With all the seniors together cheering from the sideline the future of Lady Raiders volleyball finished off the Panthers 25-17.

Senior hitters “Spiking” Sarah Middaugh, Diagostino and Chelsea “Floor Save” Flora led the Raiders offensive with 14, 7, and 6 kills respectively. While senior Danielle “Mintonette” Metangmo dominated the net leading  the team with 3 blocks. Seniors also carried the team in the back row, with Jenna “Pure Athlete” Purichia earning 28 digs while Belloni and Maria “Ace” Adolay added 16 and 12 each. Senior setter “Going Back To” Callie Waites racked up stats in all categories finishing senior night with 25 assists, 4 kills, and 16 digs.
