In a quick turnaround, the Raiders played the Eagles from Heritage Christian on Saturday morning, and fell 2-1 in a closely contested match. The Lady Raiders came out strong, connecting passes and challenging every play. With a rare free kick given in the box, Heritage took a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Lady Raiders came out in the 2nd half on a mission. Amara Allen led the back line with fantastic clearances and distributions up the field. The breakthrough for the Raiders, initiated from an Allen free kick, came when Chelbi Hill connected with Azul Aceves down the field who would not quit and battled until she shoved the ball into the back of the net. Heritage would score one minute later. While there would be several more opportunities to net, an equalizer was just not in the cards, and the final result held 2-1.
The Lady Raiders look to finish the 2017 regular season on a high note, at Tri-West on Thursday evening.
