Girls Varsity Soccer · Girls Soccer Season Ends At Sectional Final

By Miles Tracy

Girls Soccer Sectionals (1)It was a rainy day for Cardinal Ritter Soccer fans as the Lady Raiders lost to the Covenant Christian Warriors 2-1. The Lady Raiders hosted the Lady Warriors for the Sectional Championship on Saturday night under the lights to a packed house. The intensity was high, but the Warriors came out hot against the Raiders scoring two quick goals to start the game.  Covenant kept the pressure on and did not give up a goal in the first half leaving a score of 2-0.

Girls Soccer Sectionals (5)The Raiders composed themselves at halftime and started to fight back, with Tia Brown scoring a goal at the beginning of the half to bring the Raiders within one. The rain began pouring down and Cardinal Ritter fought their hardest.  As the field got slick, the Lady Raiders tried to find more opportunities and shots at tying the game, but couldn’t find a way to execute.

The final score was 2-1 with Covenant taking the Sectional crown.

Great job to all the seniors that finished their seasons out strong, and The Lady Raiders  had a great season and have a great future ahead of them.
