The Cardinal Ritter Girls Volleyball Season came to a close on Thursday night with a Sectional loss to Brebeuf. The place was electric with the sounds of fans cheers ripping the roof off. The Raiders came out hot winning the first set 27-25. However, the Braves bounced back winning the next set 15-25. The third set was another win for Brebeuf with a score of 14-25.
The Lady Raiders bounced back in game 4 behind the energy of the rowdy student section. In the back in forth match, Cardinal Ritter had some great plays, but in the end the Braves made a couple of more plays coming away with the 21-25 victory and sealing the victory.
The Lady Raiders never gave up and fought hard throughout the night, leaving everything on the floor and never giving up on each other. “Going Back To” Callie Waites ran the offense distributing the ball to her teammates while compiling 37 assists. Sarah “Spiking” Middaugh and Chelsea “Floor Save” Flora led the offense with 11 kills a piece. Aiding in the offense was Danielle “Mintonette” Metangmo who arguably had her best game of her career. Metangmo owned the net with 5 kills and 4 blocks. Evie “Taps” Diagostino added 4 kills but also led the team from the service line with 3 aces in critical times.
Jenna “Pure Athlete” Purichia was all over the floor on defense racking up 30 digs while Maria “Ace” Adolay added 13. Due to an injury, Brooke “Ain’t No Bologna” Belloni was forced to be on the sideline, but that did not stop her providing positive energy as she supported her teammates.
Coach Triplet was emotional after the game and stated, “The 8 seniors are leaving big shoes to fill, their impact on our program over the last 4 years has been outstanding. We will not only miss their on court contributions, but their love of the game. Thank you for everything seniors!”
