The Cardinal Ritter Girls Basketball Team opened up the season on Saturday as they traveled to Connersville and picked up the wins. Both the JV and Varsity Teams fought in tough games but found a way to pull out victories in both.
The JV team took the court first. They started off taking full control of the game, but ended up having to mount a comeback to pull out a 43-38 win. A few clutch free throws sealed the victory. The leading scorers for the game were Maddie Sandifer and Linsey Waggoner with 8 a piece.
The Varsity Squad took the court afterwards and after starting off a little sluggish, ramped up the defense and forced the Spartans into several turnovers on way to a 44-38 victory. Free throws were again a major force that saved the win. Leading the scoring for the Lady Raiders was Meghan Sandifer with 12. Freshman, Emma Litzelman, had a strong debut adding 10 while Maddie Briggeman hit 3 threes to finish with 9.
The Lady Raiders are back in action Wednesday for their home opener as they take on Lebanon. JV starts at 6 with Varsity following 20 minutes after.
With the addition of new bleachers, there will NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED IN THE GYM.
