The Cardinal Ritter Boys Basketball Team traveled to Monrovia on Friday to take on Indiana Crossroads Conference foe, Monrovia. The Raiders pulled ahead early in the game claiming a 26-16 lead at the half. They then cemented their lead late in the game, scoring a game-high 22 points in the third quarter on the strength of a 16-4 run to come away with a 63-40 victory.
The Cardinal Ritter Booster Club’s December Athlete of the Month, “Nasty” Nate Soltis, set the pace for the Raiders offense going 54% from the field and scoring 15 points. Joey “Gamer” Gruber (9 points) and “Finding” Nemo Jones (6 points) each contributed multiple three-pointers. “I Can See For” Miles Tracy tapped out at double digits scoring 13 points while shooting 60% from the field. Also chipping in for the Raiders were Tharran Cook (7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block), Shelby Turner (4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal), Brice Buels (3 points, 2 rebounds), Dan Bayler (2 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals), and Daion “All Day” Daniels (2 points, 2 rebounds).
Cardinal Ritter finsihed the game with 36 rebounds (14 offensive), 2 blocks and 15 steals.
The JV Raiders suffered their first conference lost in 2 years to Monrovia by the final of 41-32. Damon Oagletree led with 13 points.
