Boys Junior Varsity Basketball, Boys Varsity Basketball · Boys BBall Goes 1-1 For The Week


The Cardinal Ritter Boys Basketball Team played 2 games this week losing 1 and winning 1.  On Wednesday the Raiders played Park Tudor in an 83-49 rout of the Indiana Crossroads Conference foe.  They followed that up by travelling to Cathedral High School where they came away with a 64-51 loss.

Against the Panthers, the Raiders came out firing on all cylinders leading 35-20 going into the second half.  Cardinal Ritter put up 29 in the final quarter on the strength of a 10-4 run, increasing their lead late in the game.

The Raiders had 6 players in double digits with Dan Bayler and Shelby “The Swift” Turner leading all scorers with 12 points.   “I Can See For” Miles Tracy scored 11 while “Finding” Nemo Jones and Joey “Gamer” Gruber  finished the night with 10.  “Nasty” Nate Soltis scored 9 adding 4 rebounds and a block, Tharran Cook added 6 points, 3 boards and 2 steals and Marlon “Hotshot” Anderson had a bucket and a board.  The Raiders finished the game with 36 rebounds total (13 offensive), 2 blocks and 13 steals.  Tracy was a defensive stand out racking up 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

On Saturday the Raiders got physical during the game amassing 25 fouls.  Cook was lights out scoring 13 points on 6-7 shooting.  Turner achieved double digits scoring 11 points.  Also contributing for Cardinal Ritter were Soltis with 9 points (7 rebounds 2 blocks) Gruber with 8 points (4 rebounds 2 steals) Bayler with 7 points and Tracy with 3 points.  Turner was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up 9 rebounds and 4 steals.

The Raiders finished the game with 36 rebounds (11 offensive), 3 blocks and 9 steals.

The JV Raiders overcame a slow start to cut the Irish lead down to 2, but ran out of gas and lost to Cathedral 48-39.

Cardinal Ritter is back in action Wednesday as they play ICC foe Beech Grove in what looks to be a possible championship game.  They then will play ICC rival Triton Central for the annual Night Watch Game.  Both games are at home with a 6 PM JV start and Varsity following 20 minutes after.
