After winning their first round game against the Broad Ripple Lady Rockets, 70-35 on Wednseday, the Lady Raiders had to take on a quality opponent in Guerin Catholic Friday to make their way into the Sectional Final. The Lady Raiders were consistent in the first half scoring 10 points each quarter while getting in a little foul trouble. They went into the second half trailing 23-20 but came out in the third quarter displaying their stifling team defense which led to transition points all while putting on a great shooting display from beyond the arc.
Meghan Sandifer led the scoring against Guerin with 12 followed by Maddie “3 Bomb” Briggeman with 10 in their balanced team attack.
On Saturday night, Cardinal Ritter played a formidable Crispus Attucks team that beat Bishop Chatard on Friday to earn a ticket to face the Lady Raiders. It was a back and forth game early with the Lady Tigers coming out hot and displaying their top notch athletic prowess. The defense clamped down and didn’t allow the Lady Tigers get into the paint. Jenna “Pure Athlete” Purichia led the charge on defense diving for lose balls and pulling down rebounds until she went out with an injury. Sandifer picked up where Purichia left off on defense and also became a force on the offensive boards en route to her team leading 12 points. Briggeman continued her marksmanship from 3 point range, hitting 3 threes for 9 points and ushering in the Lady Raider victory.
The girls will now move onto the Regional tournament in Danville where they will take on Danville on Saturday at 12.
Come out and support your Lady Raiders!!!
