The Cardinal Ritter Boys Basketball Team took a short trip to Covenant Christian on Friday and came away with a 78-50 victory. The Raiders began with a 21-5 run and took the momentum into the half with a score of 31-15. Racking up a game-high 25 points in the third quarter on the strength of a 11-2 run the Raiders cemented their lead late in the game.
Cardinal Ritter shot well from the floor, and if they missed they seemed to crash the boards hard totaling 37 rebounds on the night (9 offensive). “Nasty” Nate Soltis led the scoring barrage with 17 points going 43% from the field while shooting 75% from the line. “I Can See For” Miles Tracy racked up 14 points in a strong effort. Dan”O-Mite” Bayler hit 2 threes finishing with 10 points total. Also helping the effort were Tharran “T-Bone” Cook with 8 points (5 rebounds), Shelby “The Swift” Turner with 7 (2 rebounds, 2 steals), Brice “Bank Shot” Buels (1 rebound), “Finding” Nemo Jones, (3 rebounds, 2 steals) and Joey “Gamer” Gruber with 6 a piece and Daion “All Day” Daniels with 4 (1 rebound, 1 steal).
The JV Raiders fell in the first game 51-38 to the Warriors. LeRon Fleming led with 12 points and Damon Oagletree finished with 9.
The team is back in action against Providence Christo Rey at Washington High School on Wednesday and follow that up with Senior night on Friday night against Tri-West.
