On Tuesday, September 11th the Cardinal Ritter Lady Raiders Volleyball Program suffered three tough losses against Indiana Crossroads Conference rival Scecina. The Lady Raiders went into the game knowing it would be a tough one and were right as the Crusaders came out swinging taking the Lady Raiders seemed off their game.
The JV Lady Raiders came out strong and were able to beat the Crusaders in a tight first set. However, the team fell apart and lost the second set. In JV volleyball, teams play best of three, which meant that this game was going to a third set. Cardinal Ritter fought until the very end, but couldn’t pull out the win.
The Varsity Team, who have been playing very hard lately, did not play like themselves in the first couple sets. They lost the first two sets, but were able to bounce back and win the third one 26-24. However, it is impossible to beat two teams at once, and the Lady Raiders were too busy beating themselves to also be beating Scecina. The team tried to stay together, but sadly ended up losing the fourth set.
Leaders in scoring for the raiders included senior outside hitter Grace Armbruster with 9 kills, senior DS Grace Hartman with 15 digs, and senior setter Mariclaire Warnock with 20 assists and 4 aces.
The team will continue their string of home games on Thursday against Lebanon.
