The Raiders Boys and Girls Simming and Diving Teams competed in the Indiana Crossroads Conference Championship this past Saturday. The Boys team finished 2nd in the closest finish in 15 years of the ICC Championship. The Lady Raiders dominated the field to take home the 2019 ICC Championship. The Lady Raiders won 8 out of the 12 events for the day. Kamryn Blake started the day by taking first in the 1 meter diving and diving a personal best score. Continuing to win for the Raiders; was the 200 Medley Relay team of Riley Richards, Megan Westrick, Zoe Viglietta & Sheringer. It was a great 1, 2, 3 finish for Viglietta, Sheringer & Westrick. Mariah “MUD” Wehrle won the 200 & 500 Free. Viglietta kept her winning streak going by taking 1st in the 100 Fly, while fellow teammate Sheringer finished in 2nd. Richards swam her personal best and placed 1st in the 100 yard backstroke. Completing the day for the Lady Raiders was the 400 Free Relay of Sheringer, Westrick, Wehrle & Viglietta.
The boys had a great meet and all had season best times. Wesley Kochell, came home as the 500 Free Conference Champion. The 200 Medley Relay team of Cameron Knipe, Nicholas Mark, Ethan Lettich & Jacob Parliament took home 2nd. Kochell had a season best time in the 200 Free just getting out touched and finishing 2nd. Lettich had a great day finishing 2nd in the 200 IM & 100 Fly. Nicholas Mark, finished 3rd & 2nd in his events for the day, swimming personal best times in the 50 free & 100 Breaststroke. Kochell & Michael Mark had the 1-2 finish in the 500 Free, while freshman Knipe finished 2nd in the 100 back, dropping 2 seconds for a personal best time. The highlight of the meet was the 400 Free Relay of Eli Bush, Kochell, Nicholas Mark & Lettich. They had all had best relay splits but came up short in the end finishing 2nd in the relay and losing to Beech Grove by 4 points.
The Raiders will be in the pool again on Thursday at Decatur Central. Come out and support your swimmers & divers.
