In our 3rd annual Silent Night Game, Friday night, the Cardinal Ritter Raiders Boys Varsity Basketball Team ended The #3 ranked (1A) University Trailblazers 13 game win streak with a 57-52 victory. Senior “Nasty” Nate Soltis continues his strong season by leading the Raiders with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
To celebrate Nightwatch the Raiders adapted the Silent Night tradition that was started at Taylor University. The fans all sit in silence until the Raiders score their 10th point, and at that point the building erupts! Soltis scored the 10th point for the Raiders on a very impressive spin move. Time out was called and the crowd spilled onto the floor, overcome with excitement.
The Raiders led throughout the contest, but the Trailblazers rallied late to make the game close until Marlon “Hotshot” Anderson, Jr. stepped to the line and knocked down 2 free throws to put the game back out of reach. Anderson finished with 13 points on the night.
Damon “Old Oak” Ogletree, Jr. had his 3rd straight double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Joey “Gamer” Gruber was huge defensively, and filled up the stat sheet with 5 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assist, 3 steals.
The JV Raiders rallied back from a first half deficit to beat University 60-58. Rodney Adams led the JV team with 18, and “The” LJ Woods added 14.
The freshman team beat Monrovia earlier this week 55-45. Jordan Turner finished with 21 points to lead the Raiders and Kemari Robinson added 14.
The Raiders are back in action Tuesday at home for the first round of the Indianapolis City Tournament. The team will be taking on Shortridge with JV starting at 6 and Varsity Tipping off 20 minutes after.
