In a much anticipated City Tournament game, the Cardinal Ritter Boys Basketball Team defeated the Shortridge Blue Devils 66-54 in the first round of the City Tourney on Tuesday night. The Raiders were led by “Nasty” Nate Soltis and Joey “Gamer” Gruber who each poured in 16 points on the night. Marlon “Hotshot” Anderson, Jr. was also a big offensive factor knocking down 9 free throws on his way to 15 points on the night.
The Raiders took the lead early in the first quarter, and never looked back. The Blue Devils were able to keep the game in striking distance with several 2nd half three’s, however the Raiders made timely buckets to secure the win.
The JV Raiders also picked up the win vs The Blue Devils 64-44. Rodney Adams led the JV with 23 points, and Will Sandifer added 14 points.
Both teams will be back in action at Manual Thursday for the 2nd round of the City Tournament. JV will start at 6pm, and Varsity will follow at 7:30.
