The Cardinal Ritter Raiders Boys Basketball Team defeated the Beech Grove Hornets 65-63. In a game where the Raiders only trailed once, at the beginning of the first quarter with a score of 4-3. The Raiders were able to withstand a late run by the Hornets to pull out the victory. Up 10 with a minute left on the clock the Hornets began connecting on circus 3 point attempts to keep them within striking distance. After each 3 the Raiders went 1-2 from the foul line to keep the Hornets hopes alive, but in the end the Raiders did just enough to hold off an improbable comeback from Beech Grove.
Damon “Old Oak” Ogletree, Jr. led the Raiders with 19 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Marlon “Hotshot”Anderson, Jr. connected on four 3 pointers in the first half on his way to 15 points on the night. “Nasty” Nate Soltis also finished with a double double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Soltis was everywhere defensively finishing with 5 blocks on the night as well. Dan “O-Mite” Bayler also reached double figures with 10 points. Joey “Gamer” Gruber rounded out the Raiders scoring with 7 points, and countless big plays defensively.
This was the Raiders first win vs the Hornets since 2010-2011.
