Boys Varsity Basketball · Raiders Basketball Season Comes To An End

The Cardinal Ritter Raiders opened up Sectional play with a 68-36 win over the Bishop Chatard Trojans.  The Trojans jumped out to a 12-4 lead to start the game, and looking to avenge their 82-54 loss to the Raiders on Feb 13th.  Everything seemed to be pointed the Trojans direction early until the Raiders responded with a 6-0 run to end the first quarter just down 12-10.  The Raiders used the momentum they created at the end of the first quarter to extend their run to 50-5 over the next 2 quarters.

The Raiders had several contributors offensively, but were led by Marlon “Hot Shot” Anderson and Dan “O-Mite” Bayler with 12, and Damon “Old Oak” Ogletree added 10 points.  The Raiders did a great job from the 3 point line finishing 12-25 from distance.
Cardinal Ritter looked to carry that momentum built in the Chatard win to the Sectional Championship vs Crispus Attucks.  Unfortunately, the Raiders fell short in the Sectional Championship to the Crispus Attucks Tigers 69-88.  The Raiders were led by Bayler with 20 points, “Nasty” Nate Soltis 13 points, Joey “Gamer” Gruber 12 points, and Ogletree added 10.
The loss wrapped up another exciting basketball season for the Raiders. The Raiders finished 16-9 on the year, which is the 2nd most wins in program history.  The Raiders set a new record for Offensive Points per game with 70.5 a night (11th most the state), and for 3rd season in a row a winning record which is also a new high for Raiders Boys Basketball,  This season was filled with several highlights, and amazing moments from the run to the Semi-Finals of City Tournament, Silent Night, and Back to Back Conference Championships.  This group of Seniors will be missed, but their impact will forever be felt throughout Raiders Basketball!
