The Lady Raiders Softball Team has begun getting off to a tremendous start going 2-0 in the ir first two games of the year. The home stand saw Cardinal Ritter beat Chatard before the break 8-2. The Lady Raiders followed that up with a win against the high potent offense of 4A school North Central 8-4.
In the Chatard game, Taylor “The Falcon” Faulkenberg picked up the complete game win throwing a 12 strike out 1 hitter. Annie “The Natural” Kluemper was amazing at the plate going 3 for 4 while scoring 2 runs. Sophomores Lauren “Steamin'” Beaman and Maggie Cmehil added to the offense both going 2 for 3. The “McTwins” of Megan McCall and Emma McKee both went 2-4 with an RBI a piece while Freshman sensation Kelsey Wagoner also went 2-4 with an RBI.
In the Lady Raiders second game and first game back from Spring Break, they got on the board early in the first inning starting when Riley Heim doubled, driving in the first run of the game.
Cardinal Ritter scored four runs in the sixth inning. Annie Kluemper, Lauren Beaman, and Emma McKee all drove in runs in the frame.
Faulkenberg got the win for the Lady Raiders as she surrendered no runs on zero hits over five innings, striking out 14. Beaman threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. The defense was sure handed behind the two pitchers giving up no errors.
The Raiders were hot at the plate tallying 15 total hits with Heim , Kleumper, Faulkenberg and McCall tallying 3 hits a piece to lead the team. Heim also added 4 swiped bags in the win.
The Lady Raiders are back in action Saturday as they head to Lafayette to take on Lafayette Central Catholic in a double header starting at 12.
