Girls Varsity Volleyball · Lady Raiders Go 5 Sets: End Up Short

The Cardinal Ritter Varsity Volleyball Team lost to Cascade in 5 sets Thursday night. The Raiders dominated the Cadets in set 1 winning 25-15, but the Cadets came back and took set 2 23-25. The Raiders rallied in set three to win 25-22, before Cascade took set four 19-25. In the fifth and deciding set the Raiders lost 11-15.  .

Kelsey “Wild Card” Waggoner led the team with 10 kills while Chloe “Ole… Ole, Ole,” Olejnik and Morgan Schabel each added 9 kills. Alexis Priesthoff ran the offense earning 24 assists while Megan Van Gheem added 17. Defensively Van Gheem and K. Waggoner each had 14 digs and Linsey “Scoops” Waggoner added 12 digs.

The Freshman Raiders lost to Cascade 0-2 (20-25, 17-25). The Raiders played great defense with three players getting 3 digs each -Brenda Olivera, Makenna Drake and Daveigh Small and three players getting 4 digs each – Mya Saloane, Aylin Molina and Stella Campbell. As a team the Raiders picked up 9 kills in the match, Small had 3 of them and Molina had 2 of them. Drake went 9-9 from the service line and Campbell went 7-7 with 1 ace.

The Freshman Raiders are back in action on Saturday in a tournament at Zionsville.
