Girls Varsity Volleyball · Lady Raiders Celebrate Senior Night: Fall Short

Tuesday night the Cardinal Ritter Raiders faced the Guerin  Catholic Eagles for Senior night. The Raiders unfortunately lost in four sets but it was a hard fought battle until the end. The Raiders started the first set with lots of energy and with all six seniors on the court. Unfortunately the Raiders dropped the first two sets 13-25 and 22-25.  However the Raiders rallied back in set three to win 25-21. But the Eagles proved to be too much by taking the last set 18-25.  Offensively the Raiders were led by Kelsey “Wild Card” Waggoner with 14 kills. Defensively the Raiders were led by Linsey “Scoops” Waggoner with 19 digs while Amy Price “Is Right” added 14 digs. Megan Van Gheem ran the offense last night earning 18 assists. Van Gheem and Morgan Schabel each had 3 aces. Coach Triplet and her staff would like to congratulate all six seniors – Amy, Chloe, Emilia, Linsey, Mackenzie, and Megan – as well as thank them for their commitment to the program for the last four years. Great job girls and good luck in your future endeavors.

The JV Raiders also lost to the Eagles last night in two sets.  Abi Villarias lead the team in assists while Lindsay Norton lead in kills. Abby Blastic lead the team defensively with 10 digs. Freshmen Raiders lost in 2 sets (16-25, 20-25).  Daveigh Small and Aylin Molina had 3 kills each, while Mya Saloane and Molina each had 6 digs.

All three teams are back in action Wednesday night as they travel to Plainfield. Freshmen and JV will both play at 5:30 PM.
