Girls Freshman Volleyball · Lady Raider Freshmen Record First Win In First Round Of City But Fall To Chatard


The Freshmen volleyball team defeated Shortridge High School 2-0 (25-13, 25-24) in the first round of the Freshmen Volleyball City Tournament before losing to Bishop Chatard High School in the semifinals 0-2 (5-25, 15-25). The round one victory was the first win for the freshmen Raiders this season and all 11 players saw action in that match. For both of Saturday’s matches, there were three players who were perfect from the service line while also all serving 2 aces: Aylin Molina (11-11), Makenna Drake (9-9), and Brenda Olivera (7-7). Daveigh Small also had 2 aces on the day. Drake and Stella Campbell shared the setting duties today and dished out sets for kills to Molina with 5, Small with 3, 2 each to Olivera, Kayden Jones, and Taryn Andrews, while Julia Cooper had 1 kill. On defense, Mya Solaone led the team in digs getting 7, Molina and Small each added 4 digs, Drake and Cooper contributed 2 digs apiece and Olivera picked up 1 dig.
