Boys Junior Varsity Football · Raiders Junior Varsity Ends Season With Big Win Over Monrovia

The rain Monday night did not dampen the electrifying energy on the field for the Cardinal Ritter Raiders JV vs Monrovia Bulldogs home football game.   The meeting would draw to a close the Cardinal Ritter JV football season and the Raiders were prepared for the battle.   The Raiders won the toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff.   The initial Raider drive was squelched by the Bulldogs, forcing a punt that the Bulldogs returned to the Raider 10 yard line.  The Bulldogs scored and converted their 2 point play – Bulldogs 8, Raiders 0.
Troy Wilson had a great run for the Raiders and returned the kickoff to the Bulldog 42 yard line.  Ashton Roberson then handed the ball off to DeJuan Brown. Great blocking by Onye Nwosisi and Josh Johnson cleared the path for DuJuan to run the ball from the left side of the line and sprinted 42 yards for the first Raider TD!   Kemari Robinson bolted left after the handoff from Robinson to score the 2 point conversion.   Bulldogs 8, Raiders 8. The tenacious Raider defense forced the Bulldogs to punt and the Raiders started the drive from their own 33 yard line.   Roberson called Brown’s number again and Brown took the handoff 66 yards to the house for a TD!  Roberson’s conversion run was stopped.  Bulldogs 8, Raiders 14.
The Raider defense stopped the Bulldogs and it was Raider ball again!   Roberson stood in the pocket on a long 3rd down and threw a strike to a streaking Josh Johnson for a 62 yard TD!  The Bulldogs stopped the conversion.   Bulldogs 8, Raiders 20. The Raiders defense stopped the Bulldogs again and the offense went to work.  The drive was capped by a 4 yard run by Brown for his 3rd TD of the game!  Jayden Flemming was not to be stopped on the 2 point conversion and when hit at the 2 yard line, he kept his feet moving, push multiple Monrovia defenders in to the endzone!   Bulldogs 8, Raiders 28.
The Bulldogs would score their final points of the game on the second half kickoff return for a TD.   The Raider defense stopped the 2 point conversion.   Bulldogs 14, Raiders 28. The Raider defense stood strong, with Trey Hall forcing a Bulldog fumble.   Kam Henderson scooped up the ball and sprinted 32 yards for a defensive TD.  The Raiders called on Brown again, who scored on the 2 point conversion.   Bulldogs 14, Raiders 36.
The Raider defense did not allow another Bulldog score!   The Raiders got the ball back and marched down the field and Troy Wilson scoring on a 5 yard run.  The 2 point conversion was not successful.  Bulldogs 14, Raiders  42. The stingy defense forced the Bulldogs offense out and the Raider offense took over.   Aundre Dix was the highlighted running back for the drive that ended with Dix scoring on a 5 yard run off the left side of the offensive line.  The 2 point conversion was not successful.   Bulldogs 14, Raiders 48.
The final Bulldog drive was capped off by an interception returned to the Bulldog 5 yard line by Johnson.  The Raiders ran the clock out, kneeling for the final 3 plays. Final score:  Bulldogs 14, Raiders 48.
