The month of October is over and the members of the Cardinal Ritter Booster Club met to decide who we would be calling the Cardinal Ritter Booster Club Athlete of the Month for October. There were many qualified candidates, but the two that made it were the Lady Raiders Cross Country Team and Parker “Master P” Mead.
Mead was a dominating force for the Raiders Football Team as one of the team leaders, seniors and anchors of the defense. Parker was second on the team in tackles and was the consummate teammate as he would do whatever was asked of the coaching staff to help the team win. After a few injuries, stepped in at offensive line and was voted captain of the week. He made his imprint on not just defense but on special teams as well as he was on the kick-off team, kick return team, punt return team and was the long snapper.
The Lady Raiders finished their magical season by being the first team in Cardinal Ritter history to go to the IHSAA State Finals in an individual sport. The team was led by the Werhle twins of “Marathon” MaryAnna and Mariah “MHR” Wherle. Both pushed each other and the rest of the team to be the best they possibly could be both on and off the course. Jenna “Get Up And Go” Gruber showed a spark this year making major strides. Hannah “Kick” Wells improved again and Sarah “Jolt” Jacob was outstanding especially in the Semi-Final where she overcame injury to pick up the necessary points for the Girls to push through.
