The Lady Raiders traveled to Roncalli on Thanksgiving eve for a tough non-conference game. After a sluggish start in which the Raiders turned the ball over at will, Roncalli led after the 1st quarter 12-3. The second quarter didn’t start much better than the first.
The Lady Raiders couldn’t find their groove trailing by 20 points until Emma “Lights Out” Litzelman got hot with two 3 pointers and Linsey “Scoops” Waggoner hitting 2 treys from deep as well. The Raiders had cut the Rebel lead to just 8 points by halftime.
The 3rd quarter start was much better as the Lady Raiders won the quarter and trailed by just six points. The girls continued to fight back with the defense, led by Elena “The Closer” Closser, battling every step of the way. The girls were able to tie the game late in the 4th quarter, but ran out of gas.
The Rebels finished the contest by hitting several shots from beyond the 3 point line to close with a 67-52 win. The Raiders were led in scoring by Litzelman with 18 points and a better second half by Meghan “Sure Shot” Sandifer scoring all of her 11 points during that time.
The JV Team also played the Roncalli Lady Rebels for their annual night before Thanksgiving game. After another slow start, the squad came together and started knocking down shots from everywhere. The Rebels responded by utilizing their size to their advantage. A half-court shot at the buzzer missed the mark and your lady raiders fell 42 to 45.
Megan McCall “Me Maybe” and Jenna “Get Up And Go” Gruber led in scoring with 12 each while Maddie Sandifer added 9.
Up Next for the Lady Raiders is an away game at Monrovia Bulldogs next Tuesday.
