Multiple Teams · Raiders Host Girls And Boys Doubleheader

The Cardinal Ritter Girls and Boys Basketball Teams hosted Decatur Central in a wild Boy/Girl, JV/Varsity Doubleheader.  The mood was intense all night with the Boys team falling in the first game and the Lady Raiders pulling through in game 2.

In the boys game, the team went down early and could not find their footing.  Damon “Old Oak” Ogletree was a bright spot on the night finishing with 16 points and 11 boards.

In game 2, the Lady Raiders ended 2020 with a hard fought 45-43 victory over visiting Decatur Central this past Saturday.  In a back and forth game with many lead changes, the Raiders were victorious.

Leading at half time 22-20, the Raiders came out sluggish in the 3rd quarter and could only muster 8 points and trailed 39-30.  The Lady Raiders got back to business in the 4th quarter as the defense stepped up and shots started falling.

With the scored tied, Chloe “Ole… Ole, Ole” Olejnik scored on a drive to the basket with 8 seconds left to provide the win and the final score of 45-43.

The Raiders were led in scoring by Emma “Lights Out” Litzelman with 15 points and Meghan “Sure Shot” Sandifer with 11 points.  The Lady Raiders finish 2020 with a record of 9-5. (5-1 in the Crossroads Conference).

The Girls JV Team also walked away with a win with stellar play from Olivia “Wu-Tang” Webb, Jenna “Get Up And Go” Gruber and Maddie Sandifer.

Up next for the Lady Raiders will be a conference game against Beech Grove on January 9th. with the boys playing January 10th at Monrovia.
