The Cardinal Ritter Girls Basketball Team traveled to Tri-West for a Wednesday night matchup. The 12-6 Raiders played their best defensive half of the year. In a half that was back and forth, the Lady Raiders led the 14-4 Bruins by 4 at half.
The second half was more of the same with great defensive effort and several lead changes throughout. In the end, it was untimely turnovers that proved the difference in a 54-43 road loss.
The Raiders were led in scoring by Kelsey Waggoner with 18 points.
The JV Lady Raiders traveled to Tri West on Wednesday as well to take on the Lady Bruins.
A hotly contested battle from the start, the squad used a late 2nd quarter burst to take a 24-19 halftime lead.
Some key adjustments were made by the Bruins to start the second half and they kept the game close, tying the contest in the 4th quarter. The Lady Raiders were resilient, however, and late game free throws by Daveigh Small and “Raking” Riley Heim helped seal the win.
Megan McCall “Me Maybe” led all scores with 12 with Liv “Wu-Tang” Webb adding 11 and Maddie Sandifer chipping in 9. The win leaves the Raiders at 12-5 on the season.
Next up for the Ladies is a home contest versus Chatard this Friday night with a JV tip at 6pm and Varsity to follow.
