The Lady Raiders Basketball Team played Catholic school rival Bishop Chatard at home this past weekend.  As always, it was a tough, hard fought contest with the Lady Raiders coming out on top with a 56-49 win.  It was a great basketball environment with the band playing and a big crowd.  As always in this rivalry, the game was back in forth with tough defense and good offense.

The Lady Raiders were led in scoring in the first half by Linsey “Scoops” Waggoner with 8 points including 2 deep threes, and Chloe “Ole… Ole, Ole,” Olejnik with 6 points, but the Lady Trojans went into halftime with a 24-22 halftime lead.

The second half was more of the same, tough defense and solid offense.  Second half free throw shooting proved to be the difference.  Olejnik, Emma “Lights Out” Litzelman, and Elena “The Closer” Closser were lights out from the line.  Closser converted 7 of 8 free throws, and Olejnik made 5 of 6.

The Lady Raiders placed four girls in double figures with Olejnik leading the way with 13 points.  The others were Litzelman with 12 points, Elena Closser with 11 points and Kelsey “Wild Card” Waggoner with 10 points.

Next up is a trip to 2A #2 ranked University this Tuesday night and the Raiders finish the season with Senior night on Thursday versus New Palestine.
