The Cardinal Ritter Girls Basketball Team’s season has come to an end. A season that was capped off with winning the team’s 2nd Sectional Title in 3 years. Even though the season is over, it does not mean the accolades will stop pouring in for this outstanding group of young women.
The latest series of accomplishments come in the form of the 2019-20 All-Indiana Crossroads Conference Girls Basketball Team. With their second place finish in ICC play, the Raiders were rewarded with 3 members making the All-ICC squad. Those players were Elena “The Closer” Closser, Gabby “Heat Check” Hicks and Emma “Lights Out” Litzelman.
Closser was the floor general all season and played tremendous defense while finding her teammates for scoring opportunities. There were not many other players in the entire state that were more clutch than Closser down the stretch of a game which earned her the fitting nickname of “The Closer.” If a game was close and the other team sent her to the line, it was almost automatic points for the Lady Raiders.
Hicks improved on her game by adding more efficiency from the 3 point line. Her shooting was able to pull a post defender out of the paint which cleared the way for her teammates. If her defender didn’t follow her out to the 3 point line, it was going to be a long night for the other team because of her ability to stretch the floor.
Litzelman was a star on both sides of the court all year long. Not only did she always guard the opposing team’s best player, but she also led the Lady Raiders in scoring. Litzelman is beginning to shape into one of the all-around best offensive players in the area. She is able to hit outside shots and she is not afraid to slash to the basket. Her moves when driving the lane are what have set her apart from other players as she also does a great job of dishing the ball off when driving.
Congratulations Lady Raiders!!
