Girls Varsity Tennis · Lauren VanMieghem: Spring Sports Senior Showcase

Lauren VanMieghem is our next Senior Showcase highlight.  In addition to playing tennis in the Spring, Lauren has been a mainstay on the Cardinal Ritter Cheer Squad.  She is always in a happy mood and shows great enthusiasm for the Raiders Athletics, especially when she is cheering them on.  She has been playing tennis long before she was at Cardinal Ritter and she was able to take that knowledge and share it with her teammates.  She is a determined individual that will ave a lasting impact on people around her in the future.  See below for what she wishes to do in the future which would be helpful now.

Coach Rubey said of Lauren, “Coach Allen and I are so impressed with how Lauren’s game has evolved. Her work on her serve over the winter was going to ‘serve’ her well this season in singles. She and Annie Waters enjoyed their time in doubles last year and we loved how well they played together.”

She added, “Lauren’s tennis life began way before high school and the team has benefited from her experience and her heart for her team.  Lauren certainly had honed her abilities as a player to play in any position asked of her and her willingness to play singles or doubles and also mentor other players showed why she is an outstanding asset to the Raiders team.”

A little more about Lauren :

She plans to study biology at Xavier University and become a research scientist and study diseases.

Most memorable Cardinal Ritter experiences Winning our (Annie and my) sectional match against Ben
Davis for Tennis and having fun together at conference every year, and
playing with Annie and always coming back in the last 2 sets.

“I will miss the fun practices that we always had. I will miss my teammates
Olivia and Lucy, and especially Mackenzie and my doubles buddy Annie, I love you girls so much. I will
really miss both my Coaches who pushed me to do my best and to keep practicing.”

She added, “I would like to thank my parents for always coming to my matches and
giving me tips afterwards. I would also like to thank Annie and Mackenzie for always making practices
and matches really fun. Thank you Coach Ruby for always having fun stories, checking on the team, and
being a great coach and to Coach Allen for always being positive and giving great advice.”

Thank you Lauren!!
