It was a foggy, damp cool day on Friday when the Lady Raider golfers took to the links in the City Golf Championship at South Grove Golf Course, but the cooler weather made for better scores for the Raiders as they fired their best team score of the season with a 393. That was enough to place 4th overall as a team behind Heritage Christian, Cathedral, and Bishop Chatard. Three Raiders also had their best rounds of the season. Senior Lydia Schembre led the scoring with an 87, which placed her 6th overall and earned her All City honors. Fellow senior Megan McCall followed with a personal best 93, then sophomore Ella Kappel with a personal best 105, and freshman Maddie Roberts with a 108. Freshman Bella Basso also had her personal best of 118.
The ladies have one more busy week left in their season, starting out Monday against Heritage Christian and Pike at Coffin Golf Club, then Wednesday against Covenant Christian back at South Grove for a Match Play competition. They wrap up the week on Saturday in what the Indianapolis Star has deemed the toughest golf Sectional in the state. Sectional play has moved to Pebble Brook Golf Course in Noblesville this year. Action starts at noon, but individual team tee times have not yet been assigned. Go Raiders!
