The Cardinal Ritter Freshman Volleyball Team competed in the single elimination city tournament on Saturday. The Lady Raiders lost the first match of the day to the eventual tournament champions, Bishop Chatard Trojans, in two very close sets (18-25, 24-25). Evelyn Buck had a season high four blocks in the match. Maddie Roberts lead the offense, hitting .294 in the match, earning 5 kills on 17 attempts without committing any errors. Buck had 3 kills in the match while Dayna Cram, Mary Henninger and Hannah May each had 1 kill. As a team, the Raiders earned 32 digs, led by Molly VanGheem with 9, Emma Cmehil 7, Roberts and May with 5 each, Buck with 4 and Cram with 2. VanGheem (11/11), Roberts (8/8) and Cram (6/6) were all perfect from the service line, VanGheem and Cmehil each earned 3 aces as well. This concludes the freshman volleyball season.
