Girls Varsity Volleyball · Lady Raider JV-Varsity Volleyball Lose To Plainfield: Freshman Season Ends

The Cardinal Ritter varsity volleyball team lost to Plainfield on Wednesday night. The Raiders had a slow start to the night dropping sets one and two 12-25 and 14-25.  The Raiders came out fighting to start set three jumping out to an early 5-0 lead. The Raiders battled hard the entire set but in the end lost 23-25 to the  Quakers. Kelsey Waggoner led the Raiders on both offensive and defense Monday night with 7 kills and 13 digs. On offense Emma “On The” Hunt and Morgan “Straight Shooter” Schabel both added 5 kills. Defensively Schabel had 12 digs while Lauren “Steamin'” Beaman added 8 digs. Audrey “Assist” Odier led the Raiders with 12 assists.

JV lost to Plainfield in two sets 22-25 and 13-25. Mallory Grzegorzewski lead the team in digs with 14 and Evelyn buck lead the team offensively.

The Freshman Raiders ended the regular season with a loss to Plainfield in straight sets  (14-25, 24-25). Evelyn Buck led the team in kills with 5, Emma Cmehil and Maddie Roberts added 2 each. Cmehil led the team on the defensive side of the ball with 12 digs, Molly Van Gheem, Hannah May and Buck each added 5 digs.

The JV and Varsity teams start play in the City Tournament next week. The Varsity Team starts by playing Tech at home on Monday and JV team starts by traveling to Scecina on Tuesday. The Freshman Raiders finish their season with the Freshman City Tournament at Heritage Christian High School on Oct 10.
