Boys Varsity Tennis · Mark Baker Finishes Tennis Career With Coach Rubey

The Cardinal Ritter Boys Tennis season ended Saturday as “Marky” Mark Baker lost to Richmond at the Regional Semi-Finals in the individual #1 singles bracket.

Mark has been an amazing player for the Raiders as he has been the best player on the team for years now.  He has been a leader that has helped his underclassman along on the way.

In addition to Mark finishing his Raider career, Coach Rubey is also retiring from coaching at Cardinal Ritter.

Coach Rubey had some touching words about the school, the program and Mark in particular and she signed off with her patented line, “It’s a Great Day to be a Raider!”

Here is her sign off,

“As my time coaching the Raiders comes to a close, I remain, as ever, so grateful. Remember the name Mark Baker because this kid will do great things. We didn’t get the result we wanted today but Mark represented the Raider Nation in fine fashion through and through.

Thank you to Jim Martin and the athletic department for 5 years of building a program. Thank you to my assistants Jake, Kyle and Bill as well as Joe Rank! We couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you to Earl Allen for taking a chance on me! Thank you to the parents who supported us and kept us fed and hydrated.

Thank you to my family for the support and understanding. Thank you Mrs. Hoy for the opportunity to serve within such a wonderful organization.

Finally, thank you to all the players who believed in my vision for the team. It has been an honor and a privilege to grow alongside you all.

It’s a Great Day to be a Raider!”

Thank you Mark! And Thank You Coach Rubey!

You both will be missed!
