The Marion City and County Girls Sports Association recently met to vote on who the top players in the City and County were in girls basketball. Emma “Lights Out” Litzelman was one of the best of the year and has built a reputation over her career that garnered her First Team All-City recognition. Kelsey “Wild Card” Waggoner also made the team as an Honorable Mention selection.
Litzelman as one of the best players in Cardinal Ritter history. In her four years she was able to reach the 1,000 point mark for her career. Something that has only been done 4 times in Lady Raiders history. In many games she was flat out dominant. Her ability to take over a game and hit clutch shots down the stretch was vital in the Lady Raiders success during her career.
Waggoner was a great “Robin” to Litzelman’s “Batman.” Each of them played off of each other and if one had a short slump during the game, the other would pick it up. Most of the time both were on fire and it helped propel the Lady Raiders throughout the season. Waggoner has a unique ability to take over a game. It can happen at any time, but when she gets rolling, she is unstoppable.
