The Lady Raiders Softball Team bounced back after an Indiana Crossroads Conference loss to Beech Grove by beating rival ICC opponent Speedway on Wednesday 7-2 on the Sparkplugs home turf. The entire day looked gloomy with the chance of rain hanging over the entire game but that didn’t seem to matter as Cardinal Ritter’s bats came back around off a pitcher they have had struggles with in previous years racking up double digit hits as a team. This wins showed the Lady Raiders resolve and their ability to beat any opponent put in front of them.
“Raking” Riley Heim led the way on offense going 4 for 4, with a homerun, triple and missing the cycle by adding 2 doubles to go along with her 2 RBI. Lauren “Steamin'” Beaman (2 runs) and one half of the “McTwins” Emma Mckee (1 run, RBI) each went 2 for 4 with a double. Alexis “Pepper” Priesthoff (RBI, 2B), Megan McCall “Me Maybe,” and Abby “Boom” Blastic all added a hit a piece.
Beaman pitched a great game stifling Sparkplug batters at the plate striking out 10.
The Lady Raiders are back in action Thursday as they travel up to Guerin Catholic.
