While attending Marian he played baseball for two years after playing the previous two years at the College of Marin in Kentfield, California. Dave won many individual achievements, including All-American Honorable Mention Honors and All-Region 1st Team and 1st Team All-Mid Central Conference while helping Marian win a conference championship in 2004.  After college, Scott had a short stint in the minor leagues before deciding to put his efforts into coaching.

Coach Scott has stated that he is looking to contribute to a school where he can put a focus on getting student-athletes ready for the next level. Athletics were the main reason he continued his college education and he believes his experiences and knowledge would greatly help current baseball players to self-actualize their goal of playing at the next level. During his time as coach the Raiders have won four Indiana Cross-Roads Conference Championships going undefeated in all four seasons, four IHSAA Sectional Championships, two Regional Championships a Semi-State Championship and the 2017 IHSAA 2A State Championship.

Matter was also selected as the Indianapolis City Player of the year in 2015 and Malatestinic was selected Indianapolis POY and IHSBCA District L Player of the Year.  Scott has also seen 8 players move on to play at the college level in the past 4 years.
